Best Attic Antennas of 2023-2024

We promise that after you’re done reading this guide, you’ll know exactly what to pick!

1. Best Build: Antop 400 BV

What did we like?

One thing that immediately caught our attention was the level of finishing right out of the box.

The entire unit is enboxed in a waterproof and Anti UV coated casing. This helps to minimise loss during storms.

Also present is a UV coating to preserve the pearl white color for a longer period of time.

We were pleasantly surprised to see that the antenna does not require too many tools for installation. The tools given in the box were enough.

How is the performance?

We were able to power multiple television sets with one splitter.

It is also one of those antenna sets that blocks cell signals to ensure noise free reception.

And it works, with minimal interference from cell towers.  Moreover, the quality obtained on the TV was good.

One issue we noticed was that the signal needs to be in the line of sight of antenna, if not, it frequently breaks.

Our thoughts

For a few minor niggles here and there, like signal disturbance, there is a lot to like here, like build and aesthetics. We give it a thumbs up.

PROS

  • Good build
  • Easy to install
  • Good range of 70 miles

CONS

  • Line of sight issues
  • The mount can be shaky sometimes

2. RCA Compact Outdoor Yagi – Simplest and lightest solution

What did we like?

This is one of the simplest designs that we have reviewed recently.

Take it out of the box, and the snap-lock locks itself in. The UHF reflector is easy to lock and fold too.

Being so light, we were surprised to see that the antenna is well made. The parts don’t feel cheap. Ideally, you should mount it atop a roof, but even in the attic, it does its job.

The signal reception was strong and is capable of catching signals from as much as 70 miles away.

How is the performance?

We are glad to report that performance is top notch. Even placing it in the densely packed attic posed no problems.

The 75 ohm matching transformer supplied with the unit is sufficient for the most demanding conditions.

One issue that you might face is its inability to stand firm in wind and rain.

Our thoughts

It may be the best bang for buck in the inexpensive price bracket. If you cannot compromise on build, we recommend that you steer away from this antenna.

PROS

  • Dirt cheap
  • Easy design and setup
  • Good range

CONS

  • Unsteady under difficult weather

3. Best Range Antenna: Pingbingding HDTV Digital

What did we like?

One of the more sophisticated designs, the antenna has a 360 degree rotatable pole that can be controlled wirelessly by a remote.

The range of this antenna is just unbelievable at the price point. It is a good 150 miles for small price.

It is also protected against any ground fault and suited well for outdoors.

How is the performance?

The performance is good for the price range. We had no problems even when the tower wasn’t in direct line of sight.

It easily supported two TV sets simultaneously without needing a splitter. That’s unseen at this price.

It also supports a wide range of format.

Our thoughts

You may not find a better product at this price range. Although, the odd design can seem ungainly.

This is recommended for people short on cash and looking for a decent buy.

PROS

  • Cheap
  • Best range for price
  • Rotatable antenna wirelessly

CONS

  • Unusual design

4.Best 4K setup: GE 33692 Attic Mount HDTV Antenna

What did we like?

Coming from General Electric, this compact antenna offers high definition networks for free.

We found it to be one of the easiest to install. It is pretty small for its capabilities, you wouldn’t notice it after a quick installation.

It seems to offer a broad frequency range, from VHF to UHF stations.

It was relieving to find all the necessary mounts and stands pre-included.

How is the performance?

The range is okay for the price. At 60 miles, this is not bad at all. The reception quality was good. Although, they say it is 4k ready, we weren’t able to test those claims because we barely got a 4k signal.

Our thoughts

We definitely approve of this antenna given its performance at this price. Its resistance to bad weather and future 4k readiness should be a welcome investment.

PROS

  • Bang for your buck
  • 4k ready
  • Fast setup

CONS

  • Less range

5. Channel Master CM-4228HD – Best Price to performance ratio

What did we like?

This is quite easily one of the highest rated Antenna we’ve tested. The reception angle is a powerful 180 degrees.

It was good to see that the reception was a good 12 db. We found it easy to install the the antenna in various locations like the chimney, roof and attic.

It comes in three models based on the price.

How is the performance?

It’s quite good. Channels like ABC, CBS and NBC were freely available to us. The quality was good and in high definition.

If, however, we happened to face issues like disturbance in reception, a quick rotation of the pole mount solved it.

Most of the times, the signal reception was good even if tower wasn’t directly in the line of sight.

Our thoughts

For the price range, this is a worthy purchase. The antenna is cheap, has a good range, and it is built to last.

However, if you want to be ready with 4k, don’t consider buying Channel Master.

PROS

  • Options available
  • Powerful receptor
  • Decent range

CONS

  • Quite spacious
  • May be an eyesore

6. Winegard HD8200U Platinum Series – Most resistant to bad weather

What did we like?

The antenna is coated with a zinc paint to offer you great reception even in the most troubling weather conditions.

The range of the antenna is a respectable 65 miles. This is good enough to receive channels in high definition and sometimes even in 4k.

We had no problem in setting it up as the downlead coupler snaps in place instantly.

How is the performance?

We found it to be capable of receiving even low VHF signals. The high VHF and UHF wouldn’t be a problem anyway.

The reception was jittery sometimes, but mostly it works well. Perhaps bad weather was to blame.

Our thoughts

We’ve mixed opinion here. For a lower price, other antennas offer better range and reception.

However, go for it if you are looking for something that just about does the job, while being light on your pocket.

PROS

  • 4k ready
  • Decent range for price

CONS

  • Better performance at similar price

7. ClearStream 4 Max – Best performance in 70 miles range

What did we like?

We were surprised to see this antenna outperform several others in the same price and distance range.

The mounts available with the setup are all-weather mounts. It should endure the worst of weather more often than not. And, it took us barely 20 minutes to install it.

What’s the best thing about it? The warranty is provided for lifetime!

How is the performance?

The connectivity was optimal throughout our tests. We were readily receiving all the channels like ABC and CBS alike.

The reception was in 1080p high definition throughout our tests. We were glad to see the hardware being 4k ready too.

Our thoughts

You may consider it if you want something cheap, and yet durable in the price range. At the price point, the range and performance is top notch.

However, it comes with a caveat of receiving only few channels if indoors. We prefer the previous generation over the current one.

PROS

  • 4k ready
  • Best 70 mile performance

CONS

  • Previous generation was better

8. Channel Master CM-3020 – Cheapest outdoor solution with max range

What did we like?

It is not always that you can be taken aback by a product so cheap, and yet offering a great range. The range offered is around 100 miles.

We recommend using it with an amplifier for maximum performance.

It is fairly easy to install, and with a turning radius of 6 feet or more, you can easily adjust it towards the direction of better signal.

How is the performance?

The performance is indeed good.

It easily picked up the signals in full HD quality and the range of frequencies supported is wide too.

Our thoughts

If you are looking for outdoor solution that is consistent and cheap as well, this model is worth a try.

PROS

  • Best range in this price
  • Good mobility
  • No requires amplifier

9. Antennas Direct DB8e – Cutting edge technology

What did we like?

Through its cutting edge bowtie elemental technology, this has to be one of the most powerful antenna we’ve tested.

The all weather mounting setup is quite versatile and offers good connectivity even in turbulent weather.

You should get popular channels easily, and freely, for most of the times.

Do note, that the presence of structures like buildings may affect reception.

How is the performance?

For a range of 70 miles, reception of several channels was really good. As the beam angle is a generous 24.5 degrees, we were able to maneuver the antenna past obstacles.

Our thoughts

If you are looking for a solution which is cheap, has cutting edge technology and has great reception, we say go for this product.

PROS

  • Best technology in the range
  • Lifetime warranty

CONS

  • Setup can be confusing at times

10. Free Signal TV Marathon – Best for whole house setup

What did we like?

Very few antennas offer accessibility throughout the house. Free Signal TV Marathon is one of them.

This is indeed, one of the highest rated consumer TV antennas in the market. We like the range it offers for the price, a good 100 miles.

This single antenna is enough to power multiple TV sets.

How is the performance?

The performance is great. It is impressive as to how well, and easily, the antenna latches onto HD signal from about 100 miles.

The noise in the signal was minimal at 3.5 db.

Our thoughts

Few well known brands can provide this level of performance at similar price range. And then there is the fit and finish, quite good and well built for the price.

PROS

  • Best rated antenna
  • Popular among people for high range

CONS

  • Slightly heavy
  • Can get hot as it is packed in a case

11. Mohu Sky 60 MH 110585 – Most modern build

What did we like?

We liked it’s reach of around 75 miles. The local channels like ABC, CBS were captured well, and in HD. For paid channels like Fox news, this isn’t the product really.

We found no interference whatsoever, perhaps because of the cellular and FM filter.

From the box, it comes with a 30ft cable that can be used as USB or power cube, whichever way it suits you.

How is the performance?

We think you shouldn’t worry about the performance.  The strength was ample enough to provide us unhindered reception.

Occasionally, we would also receive that odd 4k signal too. The modern design of the antenna provided us a clearer picture and barely any white noise.

Our thoughts

If you are looking for an option that is cheap, and uses modern technology of filtering out the noise, then this is definitely worth a buy.

PROS

  • Excellent FM filter
  • Good range
  • Easy setup

CONS

  • Might have trouble supporting more than one TV
